The Therm-a-Rest NeoAir XLite, as the name suggests, is an extra-light mattress from Therm-a-Rest. NeoAir technology was new in 2012 and changed what you'd expect from a hiking mattress — warm, comfortable but extremely lightweight. The XLite is the next generation of NeoAir, delivering greater performance than the original with a streamlined shape that's ultra-light and highly packable.

Our verdict
For anyone counting grams on a multi-day hike, the NeoAir XLite's combination of warmth, comfort and near water-bottle pack size is hard to beat. It's not the cheapest mat on the market, but for backpacking where every gram in your pack matters, it earns its place.
